Realteam Sailing is getting ready and looking forward to the first races with the new hydrofoil boat.

The 2020 season of Realteam Sailing has started! In January everyone gathered for a weekend on the snow at the Chandolin Boutique Hotel. This reunion on skis, punctuated by lots of laughter, allowed the whole team to get to know Sébastien Col, the new recruit.

“I’ve already done two training sessions and the Closing Grand Prix with the team last September,” explained the former World No.1 in Match Racing. We also rubbed shoulders several times in different competitions, notably in GC32. But this stay in the mountains, in a magnificent setting that was different from a regatta, was perfect to strengthen our ties.”

His arrival is, without a doubt, a first-rate reinforcement. His experience as a tactician experienced in high-speed sailing will be a great asset when Realteam Sailing crosses swords during the TF 35 Tour regattas on the waters of Lake Geneva.

Each member of the team is fine-tuning his or her own physical preparation before the whole team meets again at the beginning of March for a training camp at the Mar Menor in southern Spain, where the aim will be to get to grips with the TF35.

“This will be our first sailing of the year,” says Jérôme Clerc, director and co-skipper of Realteam Sailing. The whole team is looking forward to sailing this new hydrofoil boat. We’re fully focused on this coming season.”

For his part, Realteam Sailing founder and skipper Esteban Garcia is enthusiastic. “After the Extreme 40, the GC32, the Flying Phantom and the D35, the arrival of the TF35 is a new page in the history of Realteam Sailing, 10 years after its birth,” he notes. It’s a very exciting new challenge.”
